Macro Etch

Macro Etch

Macro Etch is a process that gives a cross section view of weld and/or materials for visual examination.

Macro Etching is conducted by cutting, grinding, sometimes mounting and polishing a sample to a desired finish. The sample is etched with a chemical to evaluate the consistency of the material or weld and look for inherent defects common to the specific material or welding process.
