The completed project was estimated at $3.5 billion and transformed an estimated 20,000 acres to unite Fort Benning’s Infantry Center with the Amor Center & School. The project consisted of an Infantry Center, Training Battalions, Headquarter Facilities, Dining, and Physical Training areas as part of the government’s BRAC program.
As Fort Benning transformed into the Maneuver Center of Excellence (MCoE), becoming the installation that trained more soldiers than any other installation in the U.S. Army, the need for extensive redevelopment arose. More than half of all initial entry training in the U.S. Army took place at Fort Benning including infantry, armor, and cavalry soldiers in basic and advanced combat skills, as well as airborne soldiers and rangers.
