Visual Testing

Visual inspections are the oldest and most common nondestructive technique and are essential in all methods of NDT.

When attempting to determine the integrity or soundness of a component, a visual inspection is almost always the first step in the inspection process.

Visual inspections can be performed with or without aids. Many defects are surface and can be detected by careful visual inspection by a trained eye.

Optical aids can also be used and include tools such as magnifiers, microscopes and other specialized optical devices such as a borescope.

Dunlop NDT’s inspection team includes Level II & III Inspectors, Certified Welding Inspectors (CWI), ICC Special Inspectors S1 & S2 & Certified Auditors all trained and certified in various methods of visual inspection techniques.
